Choosing The Right Supplies For Moving

For most of us the thought of moving makes us cringe. Not having the right moving supplies will make it harder than it has to be. If you take a professional approach from the beginning, pick the appropriate moving boxes and get all the tape, wrapping paper and other essential items you might need, you’ll have an easier time. You might just arrive with your possessions – and your sanity – in one piece.

Many people are tempted to cut corners at this stage. They’ll scour the local grocery store for cardboard boxes. They’ll stack up newspapers. They’ll run short on time and make do with whatever they can get their hands on just to get by. Unfortunately, the likely results are all too predictable: broken irreplaceable treasures.

Using packing boxes designed for the job should be a priority. They’re made to withstand the rough and tumble of a move and their sizes are designed for a variety of items of different shapes and weights. With the right storage and moving supplies, your valuable household items will be well protected and the chore of packing will be a lot easier. There’s nothing a mover dreads more than having to transport a load of improperly packed items.

Now if you were to bring home those boxes from the local store you’ll end up with a lot of small ones that aren’t reinforced the way packing boxes are. They’re not designed to tough out the trip in the back of a truck. You’ll also have to squash your clothing into them – so when you arrive at the other end you’ll have some ironing to do.

For clothing, there are special wardrobe boxes available. They’re designed specifically for clothing and they make packing it easy. The box contains a rod that can be fitted snugly into pre-made holes. So you simply lift your clothing – hangers and all – from the wardrobe and hang them in the box. Hey presto, no ironing at the other end.
